The cross-category sale presents a diverse range of compelling artworks which will appeal to both established and younger collectors at accessible prices.
Lihua Tung, Head of Sale commented “Collectors will be captivated by the curation of eclectic and vibrant works from both established and newer artists from around the world. Presented at a range of estimates, the sale will appeal to buyers who are either looking to enrich their existing collections, or to start building one.”
The Intimate Sculpture
The sale includes a series of “intimate” sculptures, which are perfect for enriching home settings as opposed to the monumental pieces often found in museums and public spaces. Many of these works in smaller sizes are from acclaimed artists, including – KAWS Companion by KAWS, Living World Series by Ju Ming, Sky by Li Chen and The Puff Marshies Mini by Yoshitomo Nara.
A series of abstract works will be offered, charting the complex role that abstract art has played throughout the 20th century to the present day, juxtaposing works and bringing into conversation Western and Eastern interpretations. Works include: No.115 by Chu Teh-Chun, 09.11.49 by Zao Wou-ki, Phenomena Swiss Visit by Paul Jenkins and Untitled by Yun Hyong-Keun.
Exploring Contemporary Art
This group of artists questions and expands the boundaries of established art and creates work that speaks to the world we live in. They spark disruptive dialogues with their innovative approach to defining the contemporary art movement. Works embodying this idea include: Hand Painted Cloth Used as Flag by Lee Kit, Trauma/Alltag by Chiharu Shiota and Still Life by Zhang Enli.
New Wave Contemporary
A special selection of both international and local post-70s artists will be on offer this season and they represent the key forces in the contemporary art world today.These works illustrate how they revitalize traditional techniques, develop new styles of expression, and articulate a new conceptual approach to the making of art. Highlights include: Warning Signal by Eddie Martinez, Untitled by Marina Cruz and Firework is Everywhere by Joey Leung Ka-Yin.
